McLean Family Steps Up For Grieving Gold Star Widow And Kids
The loss of a loved one serving overseas left a local family grieving during the Christmas season. Community members wanted to help.

MCLEAN, VA—Facing Christmas has been difficult for a DC Gold Star family grieving the recent loss of their loved one serving in the military. But the kindness of strangers in the community made their holiday a little brighter.
Rodeeka Jordan made a plea for help after feeling unable to prepare for the holidays in light of losing her husband. That's where McLean's Kristina Collins and her children came in, showing up to Jordan's home bearing gifts and decorations, Fox5DC reported.
Collins and her kids rallied to support Jordan's family through a charity called Believe With Me, which gives back to Gold Star families that have lost a loved one. A callout to McLean neighbors for gifts, decorations and food gave just about everything they needed within a day to give Jordan's family a "Gold Star Christmas."

Jordan said the kind gesture motivates her to pay it forward next Christmas.
“We feel blessed to be part of this group, and the look on that little girl’s face and the joy that mom had when I called and told her that we were doing this is just absolutely what the holidays are all about," Collins told the news station.
