McLean Mom Accused Of Killing Kids To Get Competency Evaluation

A judge ordered a mental health evaluation in the trial of Veronica Youngblood of McLean.

TYSONS, VA—A judge ordered a mental health evaluation to determine if a woman can stand trial for the fatal shooting of her two children.

Veronica Youngblood, 33, of McLean would not attend the preliminary hearing last Friday, The Washington Post reported. A public defender said Youngblood's mental health has gotten worse, and she attempted to take her own life.

Youngblood is accused of shooting her two children at a Tysons apartment building in August 2018. One child was pronounced dead, and the other later died at the hospital. She had been charged with murder.
