McLean Mother Indicted For Second Daughter's Murder
The woman accused of shooting her two daughters has been indicted for the older girl's murder for the first time.

MCLEAN, VA—A McLean mother is facing two murder charges in the fatal shootings of her daughters after a grand jury returned an indictment.
Veronica Youngblood, 33, was arrested after allegedly shooting the girls in a Tysons apartment last August. She was originally charged with the murder of Brooklynn, 5, who died on the scene. The other girl, Sharon, 15, went to the hospital and later died. The indictment charges Youngblood with the older daughter's murder in addition to the 5-year-old's murder.
A detective provided testimony indicating Youngblood had planned shooting her daughters, The Washington Post reported. She reportedly gave them sleeping pills and shot them while they were asleep.

The shooting followed a custody battle between Youngblood and her ex-husband. She was reportedly about to move to Missouri with her ex-husband and their daughters, but she was opposed to leaving.
Youngblood did not show up for two of three hearings in the murder case. A public defender cited mental illness and an attempt to take her own life. A judge ordered a mental health evaluation to determine if she can stand trail. According to WTOP, the ruling found she was fit to stand trial.
