McLean Project Helps At-Risk People During Coronavirus Outbreak

A McLean student is spearheading an effort to connect volunteers with people who need groceries or other tasks done.

MCLEAN, VA — The Fairfax County school district closure has given a McLean High School student time to start a project helping at risk-individuals during the new coronavirus outbreak.

The Highlander at McLean High School first reported on the Fairfax County Community COVID Aid Project, which connects volunteers with people who need groceries or other errands completed as well as tutoring. According to the CDC, older adults and individuals with serious chronic conditions such as heart disease and lung disease are at higher risk of severe illness from the new coronavirus.

The organization is working to get volunteers and will begin outreach in the McLean area before looking to help other areas of Fairfax County.
