McLean Winterfest 2017: Parade Map, Road Closures

McLean's annual Christmas parade is coming up. Here's what you should know about parking, road closures and more.

MCLEAN, VA—McLean's annual WinterFest is coming up on Sunday Dec. 3 at 3:30 p.m. It's McLean's only community parade and will welcome the Christmas season.

If you're planning on attending, below is a guide to everything you should know before you go.

What is the parade route?

The parade begins on Old Chain Bridge Road near Fleetwood Road and turns right onto Elm Street. Marchers will end by turning right on Curran Street. Cars will end on Elm Street near Beverly Road.

The parade lineup is on Beverly Road, which runs parallel to Old Chain Bridge Road. Check in begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 3 p.m.

Where are the road closures?

Old Chain Bridge Road and other parts of the parade route will be closed to traffic from 2 p.m.-5 p.m.

No entry will be allowed into Langley Shopping Center or other parking areas along the parade route during the road closure times.

Where can I park?

Watch for no parking signs on both sides of Beverly Road from Elm Street to Dolley Madison Boulevard. Parade participants can park on Elm Street and in business lots not open on Sundays.

Handicapped parking will be available at the McLean Baptist Church (367 Chain Bridge Road).

Spectators can park at Franklin Sherman Elementary School (6633 Brawner Street), along with Safeway (1330 Chain Bridge Road), accessible only from Old Chain Bridge Road. Old McLean Village Drive and Curran Street will be open for parking before and after the road closure time begins. In addition, Salona Shopping Center is open and accessible from Dolley Madison Boulevard and Kurtz Road.

What is the cancellation policy?

The parade will be cancelled only in a case of severe weather. The cancellation will be posted on McLean Winterfest's website by noon on Sunday, Dec. 3.
