McLean Youth Soccer Team Heads to Regional Championships

As Virginia State Champions, McLean MYS Hotspur Green U15 Boys head to the 2016 US Youth Soccer Region 1 Championship Tournament held in Barboursville, West Virginia from June 30 - July 5th. The tournament includes the state champions and Region 1 League winners from the eleven northeastern and mid-Atlantic states — Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhodes Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Hotspur will return to the US Youth Soccer National Championships, the most prestigious event in youth soccer, held this year in Frisco, Texas from July 25 - 31, 2016, where they will face the winners of the other regions of the US as well as qualifiers from the prestigious National League. The team earned their berth by placing second in the highly competitive National League. Last year, in the 2015 US Youth National Championships, Hotspur placed 5th.

The team is coached by Jamil Walker, a former MLS professional player with DC United and who was named the 2014 NSCAA National Youth Boys' Coach of the Year.
