McLean's Best Parks: Claude Moore Colonial Farm

It's summertime, which means it's time for outdoor fun. But where are the best places to go in McLean for your summer fun needs? We're highlighting the best McLean has to offer when it comes to public parks.
Claude Moore Colonial Farm is hosting an 18th Century Summer Market Fair this upcoming weekend, and you're invited.
Travel back in time and watch colonial Virginia tradesman like blacksmiths work their craft from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17 at the Claude Moore Colonial Farm at 6310 Georgetown Pike in McLean, according to a statement.

"Test your watercolor and writing skills. See heritage breed animals including turkeys, pigs and chickens. Enjoy music, games and dancing as well as interacting with colonial family members in costume and character," the statement adds. "Savor grilled chicken, sausages, cheese and breads, seasonal vegetables, watermelon, roasted olives, fruit pies and more. Colonial Tavern offers cask ale, beers and authentic ginger ale. Period food, beverages and wares available for purchase. Fun, educational and affordable."
Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for seniors and children between the ages of 3 and 12 years old. Children under 3 get in free. Free parking is available.

Even if you miss this event, you can pay a visit to the Claude Moore Colonial Farm anytime during the summer. The farm is a privately operated and funded national park and "living history museum," with a mission to educate the public about what life was like for Americans in the 18th century. It has been in operation since 1972.
