Mold On Soda Nozzles: McLean Restaurant Violations

MCLEAN, VA -- Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for local restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from recent inspections in late May. Among the violations was black mold on soda nozzles at Sweet Leaf.

violation: chili, chicken salad and cheese not dated or discarded within 24 hours

Cafe At Concourse: 1593 Spring Hill Rd, Vienna, VA 22182, last inspection: May 24

violations: cheese observed with mold, employee handling food without gloves

Eddie V's: 7900 Tysons One Place, #100, MCLEAN, VA 22102, last inspection: May 25

violations: swordfish not frozen to ensure parasite destruction, pesticides stored in facility

El Tio Grill: 1433 Center Street, Mclean, VA 22101, last inspection: May 22

violations: cooked beans not adequately cooled within two hours, steak observed hot holding at improper temperature, cooked steak, beans, tomato soup and cooked chicken not dated or discarded within 24 hours

Nada Cafe: 8400 Westpark Drive, Mclean, VA 22102, last inspection: May 30

violation: cheese, ham not dated or discarded within 24 hours
