Ryo Yanagitani, pianist, has distinguished himself as one of Canada’s most promising young concert artists, where he has performed with several orchestras and given many solo recitals, as well as collaborating in chamber music. Ryo received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Yale School of Music under Boris Berman, a Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance from the University of British Columbia, and an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute. He currently holds the post of Artist-in-residence for the S&R Foundation of Washington, DC, and is artistic advisor of the Overture concert series at the Evermay estate in Georgetown. Ryo is a recipient of many scholarships and awards and has recently released two solo CDs of works by Chopin and Debussy. He is also increasingly recognized not only as a performer but also as a pedagogue and is frequently asked to adjudicate competitions and conduct masterclasses in North America and Asia.
