New Athletic And Community Center Opens At Potomac School
The private school's new space will be flexible for academic, athletic and social events.

MCLEAN, VA — The Potomac School announced its new Spangler Center for Athletics and Community has opened. An opening ceremony was held on Nov. 26.
The 76,500-square-foot Spangler Center gives the private school expanded, modern facilities for its athletics program as well as space that can be flexible for academic and social events. The center fills the need of an indoor space for K-12 assemblies and other large programs.
The Potomac School offers 25 sports with 71 teams at various levels. The new Spangler Center features a gym with two full-size basketball and volleyball courts, seven squash courts with seating, indoor track, student lounge area, fitness center, strength and conditioning room and multipurpose studio.

The facility was named for the Spangler family, which made a $12 million donation to the project.
"The Spangler Center is an achievement on many levels; it was completed on schedule and under budget, and its construction was funded fully by philanthropic support," said Head of School John Kowalik. "We are deeply grateful to all those whose vision, effort, and generosity made this project a reality."
