Owner Confronted For Leaving Dog In Truck On Hot Day (Video)

"I'm sorry, I forgot I had the dog," the owner can be heard saying in the video outside a Tysons Corner restaurant.

TYSONS CORNER, VA—Dog owners should never leave their pets in the car, especially when temperatures are soaring into the 90s. One dog was the victim of being left in the back of a pickup truck in Tysons Corner on Fourth of July, but bystanders came to the rescue.

Tommy Robb writes on Facebook he was having lunch at the shopping center by the Greensboro Metro Station when someone came inside and asked who had a black pickup truck with a dog in the back. Robb says the dog's owner was having lunch inside while the dog was outside in the 95 degree heat, further exacerbated by the humidity.

When Robb went outside to document the dog owner's license plate number, he found a group of people had already confronted the owner. In a video Robb took, Troy Hamill, a U.S. Army veteran, argues with the dog owner about why the dog was left outside in the hot weather.

"I'm sorry, I forgot I had the dog. That's what happened," the owner says in the video.

"You forgot you had the dog?" counters Hamill as another person yells "it's 100 degrees out."

Others had gone around to businesses in search for water, and Hamill urged the owner to "let him have the f------ water." The owner again apologized and said he often drives the dog around and that she "really enjoys it."

The video shows the dog getting water, but Robb writes that Fairfax County Animal Control wasn't able to evaluate the dog's condition because the owner left the scene.
