President Barack Obama, wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha took a 50-minute hike Sunday at Great Falls Park, located in McLean along the Potomac River, according to photos posted to social media. The stroll was unscheduled and not on the president’s official schedule. The park is about 15 minutes from the White House.

Exercise is also a big part of the Obama family’s lifestyle, especially with the first lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign, designed to help fight childhood obesity across the country.

The president may have also been calling attention to National Park Week. Running from this past Saturday until Sunday, April 26, it’s described by the National Park Service as “America’s largest celebration of national heritage.”

Admission to the nation’s national parks was free this past weekend; the usual fee to enter Great Falls Park is $5 per car.

You can find events taking place this week for National Park Week, which is a partnership between the park service and the National Park Foundation.
