Santa Runs: McLean Volunteer Fire Department Sets First Dates

The volunteer fire department has tentatively scheduled the first Santa Runs, featuring Santa on the antique fire engine.

MCLEAN, VA — There's no stopping Santa from visiting children around McLean for the holiday season. The McLean Volunteer Fire Department has announced the first Santa Run dates for 2021.

The jolly man in red will make his way around different parts of McLean on various dates in December. Santa will ride atop the McLean Volunteer Fire Department's antique fire engine joined by his elves. The fire engine will make its way through downtown McLean each evening between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. before visiting the scheduled neighborhoods.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, candy canes will not be handed out. Residents are asked to practice social distancing when Santa visits.

Here is the tentative schedule:

  • Sunday, Dec. 5: The Madisons, Salona, Ballantrae
  • Monday, Dec. 6: Kings Manor, Churchill
  • Tuesday, Dec. 7: Continuation of Churchill
  • Wednesday, Dec. 8: Pimmit Hills
  • Thursday, Dec. 9: Sea Cliff, Southridge

Additional dates will be announced at a later time.

The schedule will be dependent on weather and other factors. Residents should check for updates on www.mcleanvfd.org/santa. The website includes a Santa tracker to provide a "best guess" of where Santa currently is.
