Supervisor John Foust and Neighbors Celebrate Completion of Another Lewinsville Road Trail
Connecting Elsinore Avenue to Snow Meadow Lane; Foust is running for Congress.

Dranesville Supervisor John Foust, neighborhood residents, and staff from Fairfax County Department of Transportation and Department of Public Works and Environmental Services met Monday to celebrate the substantial completion by Fairfax County of a pedestrian walkway running along Lewinsville Road between Elsinore Avenue and Snow Meadow Lane, according to a news release from his office.
Foust is running for Virginia’s 10th congressional District seat against Republican Barbara Comstock. The election is Nov. 4.
Here’s more about the pedestrian walkway improvements, from the release:

The trail segment filled a critical need for safe pedestrian passage on a section of Lewinsville Road that included a road-narrowing framed by steep embankments, previously unsafe for pedestrian use. This new trail will be used by residents living along Lewinsville Road to reach several destinations including the McLean and Spring Hill Silver Line Metro stations, the Spring Hill RECenter and downtown McLean.
Also recently completed was a walkway on Lewinsville Road between Windy Hill Road and Scotts Run Road, completed in June 2013 and one between Woodhurst Boulevard and Altamira Court, completed in April 2012.

“This new sidewalk is an important part of McLean’s pedestrian network,” said Supervisor Foust. “I’m very pleased that our focus on completing missing links on Lewinsville Road has resulted in nearly continuous walkway between Dolley Madison Boulevard and Leesburg Pike.”
Two other critical pedestrian projects needed to safely walk to the McLean Metro Station from McLean are currently underway by Fairfax County Department of Transportation. One will run along the south side of Dolley Madison Boulevard between Great Falls Street/Lewinsville Road and Anderson Road. The other will be on the north side of Chain Bridge Road between Seneca Avenue and Anderson Road.
Supervisor Foust obtained funding for the project from Commercial and Industrial tax revenues in October 2009.
