Things To Do This Weekend: MPAartfest In McLean

MCLEAN, VA—Are you an art enthusiast or just or are just looking for something to do this weekend? MPAartfest is set for Sunday, Oct. 1 in McLean's Central Park from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

During MPAartfest, McLean Central Park (1468 Dolley Madison Boulevard) is transformed into a lively landscape of mini art galleries showcasing and offering for sale the work of acclaimed artists from throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Families can also admire the work of future Picassos at the Children’s ArtWalk, which displays art from McLean schools.

The local festival will be bigger than ever as it celebrates its 11th year. McLean Central Park will transform into an outdoor art gallery showcasing works from artists around the Mid-Atlantic region.

Drawing nearly 5,000 visitors each year, MPAartfest features 35 selected artists, creative interactive experiences for guests of all ages, new food vendors, artists' tents, expanded live music offerings and more.

It also offers a variety of arts and STEAM (STEM+Art) and hands-on activities for all ages. Activities include the ArtReach Hands On Art Studio for children and a community mural project.

Here's the lineup of live performances

• 10 – 10:45 a.m.: Quiet Life Motel -Jazz
• 11 – 11:45 a.m.: Pablo Regis Trio - Brazilian Choro, Samba and Jazz
• 12 – 12:45 p.m.: Anacostia Delta Band - Blues, Jazz and Rock
• 1 – 1:45 p.m.: The Bitter Dose Combo - French Gypsy Jazz & Swing
• 2 – 2:45 p.m.: The Fuss - Ska, Rocksteady, and Reggae
• 3 – 3:45 p.m.: The Bitter Dose Combo
• 4 – 5 p.m.: Cristian Perez Quintet - Classical, Jazz, other genres

Held by McLean Project for the Arts, the event is free to attend. Parking is available at Capital One Bank (6890 Elm Street) and FitzGerald Properties (1446 Dolley Madison Boulevard at Elm Street). There's also parking with shuttle service at the 1420 Beverly Road garage (shuttle stop across street at 1401 Beverly Road) and Langley Shopping Center (1394 Chain Bridge Road. Shuttle stop at south end of lot). All shuttles are free and will make a continuous loop between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
