Toys For Tots 2020: Where To Donate In Fairfax County

Collections have begun for the annual Toys for Tots campaign at fire stations and other county locations.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and other sites will be collecting toys for children in need as part of the regional Quantico Toys for Tots Campaign. Collections are underway and will continue through Dec. 13.

Toys for Tots is an effort led by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve since 1947 to ensure children in need can feel the joy of unwrapping a toy on Christmas. The campaign draws participation from over 800 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

The Quantico Toys for Tots regional campaign draws participation from collection sites in Fairfax County and other local jurisdictions. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue announced Tuesday its fire and rescue stations have started to accept donations through Dec. 13. Collection boxes will be placed outside the front door of each station every morning until 8 p.m. daily.

Last year, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue collected around 12,000 toys, filling two tractor-trailers. The entire Quantico campaign distributed over 108,000 toys, serving over 106,000 children in 2019.

"Please help us to help those less fortunate this holiday season. The need will be even greater this year," said Fairfax County Fire and Rescue in a news release.

Toys for Tots serves toddlers and youth through age 17. Donations must be new, unwrapped toys. Toys used or considered as weapons will not be accepted. Checks or money orders can also be made payable to Toys for Tots.
