Tysons Bridge Work to Impact Overnight Drivers

If you are driving to Dulles overnight this week, be aware of occasional stoppages on Dulles Access and Toll Roads.

MCLEAN, VA -- Construction on the Route 7 bridge over Dulles Access and Toll Roads in Tysons will impact overnight drivers Monday through Friday this week.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is widening the road from four to fix lanes, with the project extending from Tyco Road to Jarrett Valley Drive in Tysons.

WTOP reported that the VDOT will occasionally stop traffic on the westbound Dulles roads during the weekday construction work from midnight to 5 a.m. Stoppages could be 20 minutes at a time, but the roads will not be closed during most of the construction, Mike Murphy of VDOT told WTOP. Eastbound drivers should expect single-lane closures, but delays may be minimal.

VDOT is overhauling the bridge as part of a larger Route 7 widening project extending into Reston. The whole project is expected to finish by spring 2018.
