Tyson's Corner Crash Dumps Marble Countertops Across Express Lanes

TYSON’S CORNER, VA -- A tractor-trailer’s collision with a car in the express lanes on I-495 didn’t involve injuries, but it did lead to a second accident and traffic delays.

At 5:55 p.m., a tractor-trailer collided with a passenger vehicle in the southbound lanes of the I-495 Express Lanes, according to State Highway Patrol spokesperson Corinne Geller.

There were no injuries, but the tractor-trailer was hauling 4,800 lbs. of marble countertop, requiring traffic to be diverted for the clean-up.

In the residual traffic backup, a second crash occurred involving three vehicles, Geller said. No injuries were reported.

The initial crash remains under investigation.
