Tysons Corner Shoplifter Assaults Security Guard: Police

Fairfax County Police stepped in to assist after a shoplifter assaulted a loss prevention officer at a store at Tysons Corner, police said.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Fairfax County Police stepped in to assist after a suspect allegedly shoplifted some merchandise Saturday night from the Hollister store at Tysons Corner.

The incident took place at the shopping center, located at 1961 Chain Bridge Road, Saturday at about 7:43 p.m., according to police. That's when a loss prevention officer at the Hollister store in Tysons observed a man conceal merchandise in a foil-lined bag and leave the store without paying, police said.

The loss prevention officer followed the suspect, identified himself and told the suspect to drop the merchandise, according to police. Instead, the suspect threatened and assaulted the loss prevention officer and fled, police said.

Fairfax County officers located and apprehended the suspect a short distance away. He was charged with robbery, assault, possession of burglarious tools and providing false identification to law enforcement. He was transported to the Adult detention Center and held on no bond.
