Tysons' Proposed Lincoln Street Would Link Old Meadow, Magarity Roads
Fairfax County is planning a new Tysons road to connect Old Meadow Road and Magarity Road by Scott's Run.
TYSONS, VA — Fairfax County transportation planners are moving ahead with a proposed new roadway in Tysons that would connect Old Meadow Road to Magarity Road. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation is planning Lincoln Street as part of the Tysons grid of streets, according to project information released by the county.
The county says the proposed road would provide alternative access from Old Meadow Road to I-66 and the McLean area, while bypassing portions of Route 123. The project is part of a broader street network intended to accommodate anticipated growth and support what the county describes as a more connected urban community in Tysons.
Under the current plan, Lincoln Street would be built as a two-lane roadway with sidewalks on both sides. The project also includes a bridge over Scott's Run. On Magarity Road, the plan calls for dual mini roundabouts at the intersection of Peabody Drive and Violet Ridge Place.

Residents who want a public hearing on the proposal have until April 10, 2026, to request one in writing. Letters must be sent to Ms. Sonia Shahnaj, Project Manager, Fairfax County Department of Transportation, 4050 Legato Road, Suite 400, Fairfax, VA 22033.
According to the project notice, a hearing will be scheduled if public comments show one is needed. The county said that if it is deemed necessary to hold a public hearing, notice of the date, time and place will be posted.
For now, the project remains in the public information stage, with county transportation staff making plans and review materials available. The proposed road would add another connection in a growing part of Tysons and could change how drivers, walkers and nearby residents move through the area if the project advances.
