Wegmans Store Opens At Capital One Center In Tysons

TYSONS, VA — The Wegmans store at the Capital One Center campus in Tysons opened to the public on Wednesday. The store is located at 1835 Capital One Drive South and is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight.

The 80,000-square-foot Wegmans is set up to have a more urban format than the other locations in Northern Virginia. Customers who drive can access a parking garage, and Metro riders have a short walk from the McLean station.

Aside from the grocery offerings, Wegmans has an array of prepared food concepts along with indoor and outdoor seating for nearly 200. The Burger Bar is a fast-casual restaurant serving burgers, sandwiches, fries and more. There is also a Japanese-inspired full-service bar with a selection of hand-rolled sushi and hand-crafted cocktails using Japanese spirits, selection of wines and sake by the glass, and local beers on tap. The store's sushi concept has a variety of vegetable, cooked and raw made-to-order selections.

Customers can also find a made-to-order pizza shop with options of pizza by the slice, made-to-order salads with greens, grains, protein and dressing options. The sub shop features hot and cold sandwiches, subs, wraps, party trays and cookies. The Buzz Coffee Shop offers breakfast sandwiches and organic specialty coffee, tea, and espresso drinks. There is also a soup station with four seasonal varieties as well as entries and sides packaged to go.

While the location is a smaller-format store, it features concepts you'd see in a regular store. The bakery includes plenty of bread and dessert options, and the wine section has 2,000 wines ranging from $6 options to fine wines. There are also 900 varieties of craft, domestic, and imported beers, with an option of creating your own six-packs. The store also carries foods representing cuisines from around the world, including Indian, Korean, Caribbean, South American, British, German, and Italian.

Along with in-store shopping, customers can purchase groceries online for curbside pickup or delivery. The store follows various safety protocols due to the pandemic, such as sanitation of high-touch points, hand sanitizer stations, Plexigas shields at registers and other locations, and visual indicators for social distancing.

The Wegmans store is located near Capital One's new headquarters building. Work is underway on a Capital One Hall for corporate events venue and performing arts center. That venue is expected to open in fall 2021. The Capital One Center development already has a Starbucks location that opened, while the Perch Biergarten is expected to open in fall 2021.
