PHOTOS: Winds, Snow Blow Through Northern Virginia

Winds knock down trees, knock out power Saturday night.

Howling winds, low temperatures and blowing snow hit Northern Virginia Saturday night, just hours after the sun was shining in the afternoon.

Nearly 20,000 homes were without power in Northern Virginia Saturday night, as of about 11:30 p.m., with freezing temperatures; nearly 5,000 of those homes without power were in Fairfax County, including large clusters of homes seeing outages in the Burke and Mount Vernon areas.

The following are photos of the blowing snow, downed trees and more posted Saturday night to social media.
