Winter Storm Canceling, Delaying Some Flights In and Out of DC Area Airports

A winter storm is canceling and delaying flights into and out of DC-area airports just in time for Thanksgiving, according to FlightAware, a Web site that tracks flights.

The winter storm is heading up the Eastern seaboard and is expected to hit mainly west and north of the DC area. See a National Weather Service map of regional weather warnings here.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Loudoun County and a Winter Storm Advisory for other parts of Northern Virginia, including Fairfax County.

Airlines have called off more than 200 flights nationally Wednesday; according to FlightAware, 10 flights were delayed and 19 canceled out of Reagan National.

At Dulles International, 16 flights were delayed and two were cancelled Wednesday morning. The site showed 29 flights delayed leaving BWI.
