Jazlyn's poster shows a pair of young people collecting trash along the river in response to the contest's theme: How I helped the James River Association win the Riverprize. (The Association won the 2019 Thiess International Riverprize for its work to restore the James River.)
Her entry was one of more than 100 from students across Virginia whose schools are within five miles of the James. Jazlyn earned $125 for herself as well as an award for that amount for her school's art program.
Three other students from B. T. Washington Middle, Grayson Branton, Alexia Williams and Kamrynn Louder, earned honorable mentions in the contest.
