• Spanberger signs town-level ranked-choice voting bills (smithfieldtimes.com) — Smithfield now has the option to switch its local elections to ranked-choice voting under new state laws signed by Gov. Abigail Spanberger. The change, effective July 1, lets town councils adopt ranked-choice by majority vote and passed the General Assembly largely along party lines, with local-area legislators split by party.
