Given this situation, Newport News Public Schools has canceled all high school credit-bearing course exams for the first semester. Semester grades for middle school and high school students who are taking high school credit-bearing courses will be calculated by averaging the first marking period grade and the second marking period grade equally (50%/50%).

Our instructional staff will work with students so that this decision does not negatively impact them.

Middle School

Middle school students should report to their classes as scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday. Please note that middle school diagnostic assessments will continue as planned.

High School

High school students are required to check in with their teachers during the scheduled exam period on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students can use this time to conference with their teacher and review their work.

The PSAT, scheduled to be held in-person on Tuesday, January 26, will proceed as scheduled. SOL testing will also continue as planned.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the teacher.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
