Boys Lacrosse: Huskies Roll on in Quest for MAC Championship
Flint Hill thunders through St. Andrews to advance to semifinals of MAC Tournament
After coming off a tough outing with crosstown private school Paul VI Catholic High School, Flint Hill School bounced back in a strong fashion with a dominating 17-2 win over conference opponent St. Andrews of Potomac, Md.
With an 8-10 overall record coming into the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference quarterfinal game, the Huskies looked to repeat last week's nine-goal win over St. Andrews, who sits at the bottom of the MAC standings.
Huskies started the game off on fire with junior faceoff man Matt Zecca stealing the first faceoff for a quick scoop and score in the first 15 seconds of the competition. Junior midfielder Connor Chess followed with a quick flick of the wrist to score a shot to put the Huskies up 2-0 in the first two minutes of the game. Nick Peterson added the Huskies' third goal in three minutes, forcing St. Andrews to call a timeout.

Coming directly out of the timeout, the St. Andrews defense looked rejuventated, but Peterson broke that spirit with his second goal of the contest.
Minutes later senior midfielder Matt Montagne scored a solid shot at the 6:01-minute mark of the first quarter, showing the game may have been over before it even started.

The defense was led by Pat Farrell at goalie, and Andy Rehberger and Kevin McNerney, all seniors with tremendous stick skills that dismantled the St. Andrews offense.
Flint Hill ended the first quarter with an 8-0 advantage — with three more shots from Steve Peterson on an assist from his cousin Nick, who also scored again himself. The St. Andrews defense was rattled early and the advance by the Huskies continued through the second posting a halftime score of 13-0.
"I think we're playing really well, we're playing unselfishly and we're playing relaxed. We are shooting the ball well. Their not the toughest team we've faced all year, but we're really shooting the ball well and working together as a team. That's the biggest thing so far," Coach Adam Rice said.
The Huskies added four more goals in the second half to seal their victory and advance them into the MAC semifinal on Thursday against Sidwell Friends at Flint Hill School.
