List of Late-Summer Camps Still Being Offered in Vienna

Summer may be nearing its final month, but the town of Vienna’s Parks and Recreation Department still has plenty of summer camp options available for August.
Take a look at a few of the town’s August camps, courtesy of its Summer 2015 Brochure:
CIT Camp Program (Aug. 3-7 — five classes): Teens work closely with counselors and learn how to prepare, organize and participate in events with school age children. Great for teens who are interested in working with children in the future.

The program costs $20 for town residents and $25 for non-residents. The camp is for teens ages 12-16, and will run from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Computer Technology Camp (Aug. 3-7 — five classes): Does your child spend a lot of time on the computer or smart phone and do nothing productive? Expert in Facebook and YouTube? Teens can learn and do productive computer projects, produce a Podcast, shoot and edit video, create their own flash website, make their own 3-D landscapes, design their own iPhone case and more.
Great fun will be had by all. You never know what career this might lead to: movie producer, writer, graphic or web designer, architect or audio/video producer. Each student must bring their own laptop.
A morning session will run from 8:30 a.m. until noon, and an afternoon session will run from 1-4 p.m. The camp is geared to kids ages 11-16. It costs $249 for residents, and $299 for non-residents.
Andy Livingston is the instructor for this course, and the camp will take place at James Madison High School.
Camp Build It by Abrakadoodle (Aug. 3-7 — five classes): Kids are natural builders, and this camp is all about building really cool stuff like large-scale sculptures, amazing structures, imaginative creatures, games and more.
Kids work with a variety of tools and materials while combining wood, paint, glue, connectors, paper and kids’ endless imaginations. Camp Build It encourages collaboration as well as the development of individual skills and brain power. Kids have fun while making new friends, developing skills and confidence, learning with the staff and making awesome projects.
A materials fee of $35 will be due on the first day of camp. There is a $260 registration fee for residents and a $310 fee for non-residents. Please send a bag lunch and drink with your child each day.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day at Bowman House Arts and Crafts Center, and is geared to kids ages 6-12.
Minecraft Animation Camp (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): In this class, students will be introduced to basic animation techniques using Minecraft characters and stages. Kids will expand their observation skills and imagination by studying motion in reality and how it influences motion in animation. Students will create various short animation exercises and projects by applying basic acting theories and animation principles to scenes they create.
Classes will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The camp is geared for kids ages 10-14 and will cost $395 for residents and $425 for non-residents.
C3 Cyberclub is the instructor for this course, and the camp will take place at James Madison High School.
Junio Video Game Design (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): Now available for grades 1-3, this special class is specifically designed for young children to cultivate their interest to become game designers, multimedia artists, engineers, programmers and more.
Give your child the opportunity to see how professional games are made. Learn cutting edge computer skills through the fun art of 3-D game design using award-winning Platinum Arts Sandbox.
In this exciting class, children will use basic 3D modeling skills to create their very own video game level. They will learn to customize game attributes and build their own virtual world from scratch. Students will create puzzles and challenges using jump pads, elevators, lava, and more. Acquire computer skills, mathematics, creativity and basic problem solving skills.
The camp is geared for kids ages 6-9 and will run from 9 a.m. until noon. It is $275 for residents and $325 for non-residents.
C3 Cyberclub is the instructor for this course, and the camp will take place at James Madison High School.
Wheel Action Camp (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): A great full-day camp for wheeled sports enthusiasts. Morning skateboarding sessions and afternoon bike riding. The course will be led by American Inline.
The camp is $300 for residents and $350 for non-residents. The program is geared for kids ages 6-12. Classes will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.
Bring water bottle, snacks and lunch in cooler with ice packs. Participants will receive a t-shirt and sticker.

Camp on Wheels (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): A great full-day camp for wheeled sports enthusiasts. Morning rollerblading session and afternoon bike riding. The course will be led by American Inline.
The camp is $300 for residents and $350 for non-residents. The program is geared for kids ages 6-12. Classes will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.
Bring water bottle, snacks and lunch in cooler with ice packs. Participants will receive a t-shirt and sticker.

Stake Board Camp (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): A fun camp for beginner through intermediate skateboard riders. Learn to push, ride, tack, kick turn, approach ramps, rock n’roll, rock to fakie, ollie, drop in, skate park etiquette and more. The course will be led by American Inline.
The camp will be held in a Mobile Skate Park to be set up at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. Classes will run from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Campers must bring skate board, skate board helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, water and snack.
The camp is $195 for residents and $242.50 for non-residents. The program is geared for kids ages 6-12. Participants will receive a t-shirt and sticker.

Rollerblade Camp (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): The Rollerblade (inline skate) camp is packed with fun and games. Campers learn how to gear up, stand up, stop, avoid falling down, turn, crossover, skate backwards, skating games and safety. The course will be led by American Inline.
Bring rollerblades, helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, water and snack.
The camp is $195 for residents and $242.50 for non-residents. Classes run from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The program is geared for kids ages 6-12, and will be held at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. Participants will receive a t-shirt and sticker.

Bike Riding Camp (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): This camp provides a hands-on, educational way for children to master the art of bicycle riding. Learn basic bike riding, steering, shifting, safety and rules of the road.
In addition to improving skills, this bike camps give children a chance to socialize and interact with their peers while getting away from the TV and into the great outdoors on paved and/or dirt trails. The course will be led by American Inline.
Bring bike without training wheels, bike gloves, helmet, water bottle, hydration pack and snack.
The camp is $175 for residents and $218.50 for non-residents. The program is geared for kids ages 6-12, and will be held at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.. Participants receive t-shirt and sticker.

Learn to Ride a Bike Camp (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): Say goodbye to the training wheels. This camp is for kids who are transitioning to riding without training wheels. Participants may start out with them but learn to ride with no training wheels during this camp.
Learn balance, riding skills, braking, stopping, starting, steering, play bike riding games and go on short tours when ready. The course will be led by American Inline.
Bring bike with or without training wheels, bike gloves, helmet, water bottle, hydration pack and snack.
The camp is $175 for residents and $217.50 for non-residents. The program is geared for kids ages 6-12, and will be held at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.. Participants receive t-shirt and sticker.

Sporty Artist — Doodlers (Aug. 10-14 — five classes): Learn about a variety of artists who love sports too. Explore painting, drawing, cutting, gluing and sculpting at the Olympic level. Whether your sport is racing, running, soccer, or swimming, everyone is a winner in the Abrakadoodle Sporty Art Camp.
