Oakton High Students Predict 2010 Election Results

AP Government class takes part in Washington Post contest

The results of Tuesday's balloting will be significant not only for Democrats and Republicans, but also as a point of pride for a group of Oakton High School students.

The students are taking part in The Washington Post's 2010 Crystal Ball, where pundits try to predict the outcome of the election.

The students foresee Republicans gaining clear majorities in both houses of Congress, the only one of the prognosticators picking that outcome. The class is one of the few among the Post's panel to pick Republican victories in the Nevada and Colorado Senate races.

Like everyone else in the contest, they predict Christine O'Donnell to lose in the Delaware Senate race, but unlike everyone else, the students predict the Republican candidate to win less than a third of the vote, 31 percent.
