Oakton Otters Dive Team Battle Rain and Dominate the Boards July 5th
Oakton Otters Dive Team Win Second Meet of Season Against Sleepy Hollow
In their second meet of the summer season (against Sleepy Hollow on July 5, 2017), the Otter divers dominated the boards, despite the heavy rains, with a final score of 49 to 21. Their winning record is now 1 and 1. Five Otter divers placed first in their respective categories: Finn MacStravic in Freshman Boys with a score of 59.6; Christina Angelicchio in Junior Girls with a score of 86.5; Jon Anthony Montel in Junior Boys with a score of 87.1; Katie Vaughan in Intermediate Girls with a score of 152.95; and Spencer Dearman in Intermediate Boys with a score of 150.25. The Otters also swept the categories of Freshman Boys (Landon Nelson, second; and Zac Lee, third); Junior Girls (Kalina Montel, second); Junior Boys (Nico Shuster, second; and Max Messina, third); Intermediate Girls (Claire Newberry, second; and Gillian MacStravic, third); and Intermediate Boys (Josh Shipley, second; and Blaise Wuest, third). The other Otter divers who placed were: Samantha Shuster (Freshman Girls, third); Molly Kenefick (Senior Girls, third); and Liam Klopfenstein (Senior Boys, second). The Otters placed in every category, several divers dove up in a higher category, and many divers achieved personal best scores – all in the rain.
The divers took the boards against Chesterbrook last night (July 11), but the thunder was relentless. With Freshman Girls on the boards, the meet was delayed until Thursday night. The meet will resume in the third round of dives for Freshman Girls at 6 p.m @Chesterbrook.
