Alexandria Company Starts College Fund After Family Tragedy
Wife, two children of engineer Ken Gemmell died after plane crashed into home in Gaithersburg. Tech company starts fund for surviving child.

Engineer Ken Gemmell was at work at his company in Alexandria last Monday when a plane crashed into his home in Gaithersburg, killing his wife and two children.
His third child, daughter Arabelle, 7, was at school.
The company Gemmell works for, Savi Technology, announced on Monday it has started a 529 college fund for Arabelle. Savi is a tech company located on Eisenhower Avenue. Here’s what the company posted on its Web site:

It is with incredible sadness that we mourn the tragic passing of Marie, Cole and Devin Gemmell, wife and two young sons of one of our key engineers Ken Gemmell.
Everyone at Savi is shocked and deeply saddened by this horrible tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Gemmell family. We are committed to supporting Ken and his daughter for the long term. To start that process Savi has established the Arabelle Gemmell fund, designed to establish a college fund for Ken’s surviving daughter, in memory of her mother and two brothers.
