Alexandria Grocery Store Evacuated Thursday Night After Bomb Threat
Store has since reopened.

Officers from the Alexandria Police Department’s bomb squad investigated a bomb threat Thursday night in the northern section of Old Town Alexandria, according to Crystal Nosal, a police department spokeswoman.
A bomb threat was made Thursday night to the Harris Teeter grocery store, at 735 N. St. Asaph St. in Alexandria. The grocery store contacted police at 10:20 p.m., according to police. Police sent out an alert about the threat at 10:57 p.m.

Management at the grocery store began to immediately evacuate the store. Police investigated the threat using at least one bomb-sniffing dog, Nosal said.
The store, which is open 24 hours a day, reopened later Thursday night and is operating as usual Friday morning.

The store is fairly new; it opened in fall 2014.
