
Morrison House Presents: Tatyana Schremko Schriempf, Torpedo Factory Sculptor
Monumental sculptures from eight feet to three stories high dazzle and delight visitors to the world's largest winter festival. Tatyana Schremko Schriempf, Torpedo Factory Sculptor, has participated in this extravaganza for five consecutive years, winning multiple awards. This is a global event, attracting sculptors from such countries as Japan, South Korea, Russia, Thailand, Spain, Latvia, Finland, India, USA, Canada, and, of course, China - to name but a fraction of countries gathering for this event. This evening's presentation of the artist's photographs and videos will capture the mammoth undertaking by the city of Harbin in harnessing the energy to create this magnificent festival and world community of artists who return to compete each year.
Tatyana Schremko Schriempf was born in Harbin, China of Russian-Ukrainian parents, eventually arriving in the USA after several years in Eastern Europe and Germany. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, and received her Bachelor of Arts cum laude from George Washington University. She continued her studies of sculpture in various media with several independent artists, with a focus on foundry work in bronze. Exhibiting and selling in various galleries in the Washington DC area, she has also received commissions for private homes as well as commissions for portraiture. Her work has taken first place numerous times; she was included in the Slide Projection of World-Wide Modern Art exhibit at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. Her work has been featured in several solo exhibits, and has been included in out-of-state exhibits. Her work has been acquired by the University of Maryland for their Modern Art Collection. For the last five years Ms. Schremko has competed in both ice and snow sculpture competitions at the International Harbin, China Winter Festival. She is a member of Washington Sculptors Group, the International Sculpture Center, The Alexandria Art League, and the Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association. She currently works in both her home studio as well as her studio in the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia.

This series of monthly talks is sponsored by the Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association, the Alexandria Archaeological Commission, and the Morrison House Hotel. The talks take place on the first Tuesday of each month.
