George Washington Masonic National Memorial Is Open In Alexandria
The Alexandria landmark has reopened to the public with safety guidelines.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — George Washington Masonic National Memorial, perhaps the most recognized landmark of Old Town Alexandria, reopened in late July after four months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Memorial is implementing safety guidelines and is part of ALX Promise, a certification program of the Alexandria Health Department that goes beyond the minimum safety standards for guests and staff. All guests are required to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth inside the building, undergo temperature screening and practice social distancing.
"Since the beginning of this pandemic, our goal has been to reopen carefully and safely," said Shawn Eyer, director of communications and development at the Memorial. "Now that our doors are open to the public again, it’s our hope that local residents who have always wondered what the Memorial is like will take this opportunity to get to know what we have to offer."
