I-66 Express Lanes Congestion, Crash Reports: NoVA, DC AM Traffic

NORTHERN VIRGINIA — Good morning, Northern Virginia and DC Patch readers! Before you head out the door, check out Patch's traffic report — which covers Northern Virginia and DC.

Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your morning commute on Thursday, Sept. 15.

On the Roads

As of 7:46 a.m., a crash was reported on southbound I-95 near Opitz Boulevard in Prince William County. The southbound left shoulder is closed.

As of 7:43 a.m., a disabled vehicle was reported on southbound I-395 near Glebe Road in Arlington County. The southbound right shoulder is closed.

As of 7:40 a.m., congestion was reported on the eastbound I-66 Express Lanes from mile marker 49 to mile marker 53 (Route 28) in Fairfax County.

As of 7:36 a.m., a crash has been cleared on inbound South Capitol Street on the Frederick Douglass Bridge in Washington, DC but delays continue.

As of 7:32 a.m., a crash was reported on westbound Route 606 in the vicinity of Rock Hill Road/Route 605 in Loudoun County. Lane closures are possible.

As of 7:28 a.m., delays are possible due to a crash on southbound I-95 just south of the Springfield interchange in Fairfax County. The southbound exit 170B is closed.

As of 6:34 a.m., a crash was reported on the Telegraph Road northbound ramp to Duke Street in Alexandria. Drivers were urged to follow police direction.

On the Rails

Blue Line service is not operating south of Reagan National Airport through Oct. 22 due to Metro's Blue and Yellow Line construction. Shuttle buses and other alternatives are available. There is no Yellow Line service, with Blue and Green Line service replacing Yellow Line service.

Virginia Railway Express service is fare-free throughout September.

Riders should prepare for the potential of a labor strike starting Friday due to a labor dispute between CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern and labor unions. If an agreement isn't reached, VRE service would be suspended. Monitor the VRE website for any changes.
