National Ice Cream Day 2022: Where To Grab A Scoop In Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Grab a friend and find a nice cool spot in the shade: National Ice Cream Day is Sunday, giving us the perfect opportunity to enjoy a summer favorite at some of Old Town and Alexandria’s most-loved ice cream shops.

The United States celebrated the first National Ice Cream Day in 1984. We celebrate the sweet treat thanks to former President Ronald Reagan, who wanted to commemorate the treat enjoyed by most Americans.

A recent ranking by TOP Data in honor of National Ice Cream Day determined the top five flavors in every state based on online shopping data.

The top flavor in Virginia: chocolate. Coming in second place was rocky road, followed by Neapolitan and cookie dough. Coffee rounded out the top five.
