The Show Must Go On: Yates Deal Back On for Old Town Theater
Old Town Alexandria's 100-year old theater will live again as an entertainment venue, according to papers filed with the City.

It appears there is still life in a deal that will see the Old Town Theater renew itself as an entertainment venue.
In had appeared that the Old Town Theater was to become a space for retail or restaurants, after Alexandria businessman Jeffrey Yates mysteriously pulled out of a deal earlier this year to take over ownership.
But now, it appears that the deal is back on, with Yates once again at the helm, according to planning papers filed with the City. Yates will own and operate the business, according to the documents. The plan is for:

“Operation of a theater with live and recorded music performances, lectures, comedy shows, theatrical shows, orchestra events, musicals, sporting event showings, public and private parties, public educational symposiums/lectures. Political and public interest speakers with Q&A, community educational/outreach activities and other similar venues. There may be a theme to the establishment relating to the Yates name and their association with automotive interests.”
It also appears that Yates is now the current owner of the property; on a page asking for ownership information, it states that “Jeffrey L. Yates owns and will operate the business as an individual sole proprietorship.”

No word on the sale price; it had been for sale for $3.5 million at one time.
