Taco Bell Serving Alcohol Proposed In Alexandria
The proposed Taco Bell Cantina would offer twisted freezes, beer and wine in addition to the regular menu items.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Taco Bell has been pursuing plans to open hundreds of "Cantina" restaurants serving alcohol, and Alexandria is one of those desired locations.
Taco Bell has applied for a permit at 417 King Street, the former location of the Pendleton store. The Alexandria Planning Commission will have a hearing on the proposed restaurant on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers.
According to the permit application, he Taco Bell Cantina would offer traditional menu items in addition to shareable foods and alcoholic drinks like twisted freezes, beer and wine. There would be no full table service.

The Taco Bell would add a patio area facing King Street and renovate the inside to have a new dining area, kitchen and bathrooms. In all 20 outdoor seats and 52 indoor seats are planned. The restaurant would be open daily from 7 a.m.-2 a.m. The proposed location is on the block next to Market Square and across from the Alexandrian hotel.

Northern Virginia has numerous Taco Bell locations, but there is only one in the City of Alexandria (at 231 South Van Dorn Street). Plans for another Taco Bell at 4213 Duke Street had been withdrawn in February 2017 after resident backlash. Residents cited concerns such as, traffic, property values, loitering and noise during late hours.
