The Savoy Condo in Reston 'Goes Green' with New Lighting
Reston Town Center condo building recently converted 190 210-watt lighting fixtures to 77 watt LEDs in its parking garage.

A local condo is going green and seeing cost savings and better lighting for its residents.
The Savoy Condominium Association, comprised of 365 units in Reston Town Center, recently converted 190 210-watt Metal Halide lighting fixtures to 77 watt LEDs (light-emitting diode). A 77-watt LED uses more than 50 percent less electricity and emits more light.
Located in their underground parking garage, the expected payback period is less than three years while the warranty is 10 years.

According to Larry Stine, chair of the Savoy’s Energy Efficiency Committee: “In addition to savings in electricity and maintenance, the residents are very pleased with the increased illumination which makes the garage more welcoming.”
The Savoy is continually looking for ways to save on these kinds of expenses as the opportunity arises. A Reston company, Sylmar LLC, offered choices of products and performed all aspects of the project including procurement, installation and recycling of the old fixtures and other material.
