The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Roanoke.

(Patch Media)

Rise and shine, Roanoke! Here's everything you need to know to get this Tuesday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 40 Low: 24.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Roanoke:

  1. Passengers flying to Charlotte and Atlanta from Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport yesterday may have been out of luck as thousands of flights were canceled or delayed due to snow. Monday's flight woes follow a holiday season with thousands of additional delays and cancellations across the country. Airport employees have advised travelers to arrive earlier than they normally would for their flights, and to "pack extra patience as airlines navigate weather and staffing issues during this time." (WDBJ7)
  2. After heavy, wet snowfall throughout the area yesterday, tens of thousands of customers in Southwest and Central Virginia were still without power as of Monday night. Around 9 p.m., Appalachian Power reported nearly 22,500 customer outages across Virginia, including 500 in Roanoke City, but said that crews are working to restore service. (WSLS)
  3. Roanoke gas prices have risen 1.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.07 per gallon as of yesterday. While local prices at the pump are 11.1 cents per gallon lower than this time last month, they are still over a dollar per gallon higher than they were a year ago. (WDBJ7)
