• Virginia's Blue Ridge Restaurant Week set to return in September (wsls.com) — Salem diners can look forward to Virginia’s Blue Ridge Restaurant Week returning September 12–20, with local independent spots highlighted as the “heartbeat of Salem,” according to Mayor Renee Turk. Nearly 80 restaurants across the region participated last year, and organizers hope even more Salem eateries and residents will join in to support the local culinary scene and economy. 
• Red Sox Minor Lines: WooSox shake Scherzer (overthemonster.com) — A recent Red Sox minor-league roundup notes a tough loss for the Salem club, where too many walks led to a walk-off grand slam. While much of the piece focuses on other affiliates and Max Scherzer’s rehab start, Salem’s late-inning collapse still stands out for local baseball fans.
