Here are the top three stories in Roanoke today:

  1. An apartment fire caused $100,000 in damages while displacing 6 Roanoke County residents on Friday. Roanoke County Fire and Rescue crews responded to the incident that occurred at 4200 St. David Court. It took crews roughly 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze. An investigation conducted by the Roanoke County Fire Marshal has found the fire originating from a clothes dryer. (Roanoke Times)
  2. A portion of Northwest Roanoke's Shenandoah Avenue was closed on Saturday after a crash occurred. A driver reportedly collided with a utility pole and subsequently downed a power line. There is currently no report on any injuries that were sustained during the crash. (WSLS 10)
  3. First responders in Roanoke geared up to raise money for local charities by playing a game of football. Roanoke first responders played together at The Roanoke Rampage against first responders from Chicago who called themselves The Chicago Blaze. The Roanoke team played to raise funds for the West End Center. (WSLS 10)
