Here are the top stories in Roanoke today:

  1. The City of Roanoke is holding a 'Color Your Corner Contest.' The contest is part of the 2021 Roanoke Pedestrian Safety Campaign, which aims to raise awareness of speeding as a pedestrian safety issue and reduce speed-related crashes. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 30th and the five selected artists will have their artwork installed on a signal cabinet in Roanoke for the community to see. (WDBJ7)
  2. 14 cases of Hepatitis-A have been connected to an outbreak that started with the diagnosis of a restaurant employee at Famous Anthony's restaurant. The employee worked at three locations: 4913 Grandin Road, 6499 Williamson Road, and Crystal Spring Avenue. Anyone who is not vaccinated against Hepatitis-A and was at any of those locations between August 10 and 26 could have been exposed and should watch for symptoms. (WDBJ7)
  3. The Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts will be offering booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine to those who are eligible. (Press Release Desk )
  4. Roanoke County, Roanoke City, Salem City, and Craig County Public Schools all benefited from the 20th anniversary of Load The Bus which raised more than $50,000 in supplies for area students. (WSLS 10)
  5. The Roanoke Regional Fire Chiefs shared an urgent COVID-19 message encouraging the community to get vaccinated. (Press Release Desk )
