Here are the top stories in Roanoke today:
- A 20-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder after he shot and killed a man inside a Roanoke convenience store. On Wednesday night, a police officer was patrolling in the area of 6th Street/Moorman Avenue NW at around 9:00 p.m. when he heard the sound of gunshots coming from inside a mini mart and saw a man running out of the store. Police caught the suspect, Jamerius Crennell of Roanoke, and took him into custody. (WDBJ7)
- A Roanoke girl's family is set to hold a yard sale to benefit the nonprofit that helped her receive a new heart. Nola Grace spent months in the hospital last year after undergoing a heart transplant and her family says she's come a long way. The yard sale is set to take place this Saturday from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 1629 Indian Rock Rd. in Roanoke. (WSLS 10)
- A new haunted house attraction, Blue Ridge Nightmares, is launching in Roanoke on Friday. (WFIR News Talk Radio)
- Orange Avenue was closed on Thursday at Williamson Road in Roanoke due to an incident involving a motorcycle in the roadway. (WSLS 10)
- Blue Ridge Country Festival organizer and CEO of Purpose Driven Events, Jonathan Slye, has addressed a slew of questions regarding the cancellation of the festival. (WSET)
