Here are the top three stories today in Roanoke:
- The Roanoke Girl Scouts are passing out cookies to local heroes. The campaign is passing out 2,400 boxes of delicious cookies to first responders, military members, and teachers in the Roanoke community. This is the third year the organization has hosted the delightful campaign. (WSLS 10)
- Roanoke Valley Community Band will be hosting a Thank You Front Line Workers Concert on May 24 at the Hidden Valley High School auditorium. The event will recognize the hard work and sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic. The concert will be free but donations will be accepted toward the band's programs and student scholarship efforts. (The Roanoke Star)
- Kiwanis Club of Roanoke hosted its annual pancake fundraiser on Saturday. The organization reports that it is the 27th year the breakfast has been held. Roughly 2,300 families were served by the organization and its volunteers. The fundraiser raised thousands of dollars to go toward the club's scholarship fund. (WDBJ)

- The City of Roanoke recently selected five artists as the winners of its Color Your Corner Contest, in partnership with the #NoNeedtoSpeed campaign.
