Here are the top three stories in Roanoke today:
- The recent severe winter weather caused the roof of the Roanoke Grocery Market to cave in. The market is now temporarily closed as contractors inspect the damage. Owner Hisham Alammuri started a GoFundMe page and is asking for community support, in the event that insurance cannot cover all the expenses. (WSLS 10)
- Two people were taken to the hospital after a physical altercation in downtown Roanoke. Two unidentified people got into a confrontation at the intersection of Williamson Road SE and Franklin Road SE, where one of them pulled out a cutting instrument. They sustained non-critical injuries and no one has been arrested in the incident. (WDBJ7)
- The city of Roanoke's monthly Parks and Recreation board meetings have been canceled for Jan. The cancellations are due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, and the meetings will be scheduled for February. (Press Release Desk )
