Here are the top three stories today in Roanoke:
- A Roanoke man has been cited after the Transportation Security Administration found a loaded handgun in the man's luggage at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. The gun was a .380 caliber handgun loaded with five rounds. The man has been cited on weapons charges and will also face a federal financial civil citation. (WDBJ)
- The Roanoke Valley SPCA is asking the community to vote for it in the National Rescue Dog Day To the Rescue! Campaign. The shelter will receive a $10,000 prize if it wins first place. Votes can be cast by clicking this link and selecting the shelter near the bottom of the page of entries. (WDBJ)
- The City of Roanoke has been named among the 20 finalists for the All-America City Award. The award will be given to ten different cities from across the country in the summer. Roanoke is the only city in Virginia to make it on the list of top 20 finalists. (WSLS 10)
