  1. A new bus service provider, OurBus, has introduced a new route between DC/Northern VA and Roanoke/Blacksburg. The travel time for the route is four hours and 40 minutes. This is the fastest of any bus company that services the Washington-Blacksburg corridor. (The Roanoke Star)
  2. Zuheil Alvarez Cortez of Roanoke is helping to pave the way to U.S. citizenship for the Latino community. Cortez started the Dream Initiative to work with Roanoke nonprofits and gather resources for Latinos who are ready to begin the journey of becoming a citizen. In nine months, Cortez's efforts have helped five people gain their citizenship certificates. (WSLS 10)
