Here are the top stories in Roanoke today:
- The Roanoke FireEMS Department worked to put out a structure fire in Northwest Roanoke early yesterday morning. Crews were called at around 3:30 a.m. to the 3800 block of Red Fox Drive NW where they found a "working fire." No injuries were reported and the fire's cause is still under investigation. (WSLS 10)
- Two newcomers were elected to the Roanoke County School Board after Election Day 2021. New to the board is Cheryl Facciani endorsed by the Roanoke County Republican Party and Brent Hudson for the Catawba District, also endorsed by the Republican Party. Two incumbents - longtime board member, David Linden, and Tim Greenway, for the Vinton district - will keep their seats. (Roanoke Times)
- Roanoke made it in the 29th percentile range of a survey for the best small cities in the U.S. to live. Several factors were taken into account in the survey such as the of living, job opportunities, crime and safety, and nightlife. (WFIR News Talk Radio)
- COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 5-11 are now available at Roanoke's Valley View vaccination center. (Roanoke Times)
