Here are the top three stories in Roanoke today:

  1. The Virginia Supreme Court is currently hearing about a dispute between Roanoke County, Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center, and some county residents. The dispute has been going on for over a year. The dispute surrounds a special use permit at the facility to build a raptor aviary. Residents are concerned that the raptor aviary will bring increased traffic to the area's roadways. (WFIR News Talk Radio)
  2. GIVE Roanoke is currently trying to raise $100,000 for local area nonprofits. GIVE Roanoke is a 24-hour fundraiser that has currently raised $22,000 since the beginning of this month. The fundraiser is spread through social media and community collaboration. (WSLS 10)
  3. The Roanoke Regional Chamber held its annual Legislative Wrap-Up on Tuesday morning. The event occurred at the Salem Civic Center with numerous Roanoke area lawmakers presenting their experiences during the latest legislative session. The budget was brought up only a few times during the event but lawmakers seemed to be optimistic that it would be passed soon. (WDBJ)
